First introduced in 1993, now a very popular procedure performed by many skin care therapists. It involves exfoliation of the outer dead layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, using ultra-fine corundum crystals. At the same time, a vacuum suction tube sweeps the used crystals and the cellular debris into a separate container.
The intensity of exfoliation and suction power can be controlled by the trained operator and is regulated according to skin type and the problems being treated.
Microdermabrasion is one of the best deep cleansing treatments for the skin. It can also improve on abnormal pigmentation, acne scarring and open pores.
